• No to Shorter Lunch Times for Primary Schools

    Primary School Lunch Times

The Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) is totally opposed to the proposal by the Primary Schools Principals’ Association to reduce the length of time of the lunch break for primary school children. This proposal is obviously a knee jerk reaction by the principals to the difficulties which some schools may be having with respect to the supervision of children during the lunch break. There have been incidents of bullying and other activities that have resulted in children being physically hurt, and some of these incidents may have occurred during the lunch break. However, shortening the time does not address the core problem of violence and/or bullying.
