We need a system of education which is relevant, responsive and accountable to the society in this new system, the purpose of education bust be clearly defined. Our education must be based on a philosophy of history, our history and the history of the world in which we live. Moreover, this history must be positioned within the regional and global contexts. At every level, Caribbean history must become compulsory for our students to encourage patriotism and a pride in their country and region, and also to motivate them to excel both at the national and regional level.
